The Situation: Client engaged in the ownership and operation of power generation facilities and the sale of energy were faced with a set of QA & Testing challenges.
The Challenge: As a result of recently relocating its corporate headquarters, the client had a large number of software and hardware systems that had to be relocated as well. The client encountered resource constraints and skill set challenges related to this initiative, along with other QA and testing objectives. The client was seeking a solution that utilized proven expertise, best practices, proven resources, knowledge management, and delivery support to meet their goals.
The Response: EITACIES, a premier provider of technology staffing and services, responded through its QA & Testing Center of Excellence by developing an outsourced quality assurance solution. The implementation included the development of a QA & Testing strategy to verify that the migrated systems functioned properly, as well as the design, development, and execution of an acceptance test suite to validate system functionality. EITACIES also presented data to confirm that the deployment was successful as well as the required documentation to support SDLC and SOX compliance.
In addition, EITACIES initiatives included User Acceptance Testing leadership and coordination for the companyʼs mission-critical energy trade book application. EITACIES also incorporated a Proof of Concept and the implementation of Mercuryʼs Test Director/Quality Center tool for test process management and defect tracking. The solution included the creation of comprehensive employee tool training courseware and User guides, as well as the development of a customized test framework methodology to support the clientʼs ongoing testing initiatives. Lastly, a performance profile was delivered to identify and resolve performance issues on one of the clientʼs mission-critical fifinancial applications.
The Result: As a result of this engagement, EITACIES enabled the client to achieve multiple objectives such as the completion of the testing required for its corporate relocation program. Also, the transition to a new test management tool and the implementation of a test management and defect tracking system proved to be successful and increased visibility and confidence in testing status. EITACIES was also able to identify the root cause for critical system performance issues which helped drive intelligent fiscal decisions about software investments for subsequent fiscal years. Finally, EITACIES implemented a standardized, companywide test framework methodology to support ongoing testing initiatives.
